A handheld priest's cross of ancient design, made of nickel with a high silver content. This particular simple Ethiopian Cross developed in the 17th Century with the curling of the arms' ends, signifying ram's horns or the Lamb of God, the transfiguration of Christ's figure as Agnus Dei. Variants of it are known in Ethiopia as the Kernebege (Horn of Ram) group of crosses. H17 x W6.6cm.
